NSW Traineeships in Business, Construction and Supply Chain - YRT
CERT III Business Management graduate after completion of qualifications in Western Sydney

Western Sydney is in the middle of the biggest infrastructure build the state has ever seen. The Western Sydney International Airport opens this October or even sooner we hope. Sydney Metro West is driving a 24 kilometre tunnel from Westmead through Parramatta to the CBD. Industry forecasts put the state's construction workforce shortage above 300,000 workers by the middle of 2027.

Somebody has to fill that gap, and it will not fill itself.

YRT is a national Aboriginal led Registered Training Organisation that has spent close to two decades turning learners into skilled, work ready professionals. Our completion rate sits at 88 percent, well above the 54 percent national average, and we have trained more than 50,000 graduates since 2008. As the RTO in the Yalagan Group family, our job is the qualification. Our sister organisation NexGen Pathways, a Group Training Organisation, then employs many of our graduates and places them directly with host businesses, so the training we deliver turns into a real job rather than a certificate sitting in a drawer.

Right now, four NSW funded traineeships sit at the centre of what we do, and two of them deserve a closer look.

Certificate III and Certificate IV in Business

A new airport and a new metro line do not just need people on the tools. They need people running the office behind them: customer service, business documents, records, scheduling and the everyday administration that keeps a project or a workplace moving. Certificate III in Business is YRT's number one ranked NSW traineeship, and Certificate IV in Business builds on it for learners ready to take on more responsibility. Both are practical, workplace based, and lead straight into genuine office and business support careers, from reception through to project coordination.

Certificate II and Certificate III in Supply Chain Operations

Every one of those major builds runs on a supply chain. Materials, equipment and freight have to move through warehouses and distribution centres on time, every time, and that takes skilled people who understand stock control, dispatch and logistics coordination. YRT's Supply Chain Operations traineeships, ranked in NSW's official top 20 traineeship list, take learners from entry level warehouse tasks through to genuine stock control and coordination responsibility, a career with strong demand right across Western Sydney's freight and logistics sector as the airport comes online.

Alongside those sits Certificate III in Civil Construction Plant Operations, training the operators who run the excavators, graders and dozers behind the state's road and rail projects directly.

Hayden Trindall came through YRT during one of the hardest periods of his life and now works full time on the Sydney Metro project. That is not a marketing line. That is what training built the right way actually does.

If you are ready to start, or you are an employer who needs a trained, work ready team, this is the moment. NSW needs the workforce. We are building it, and once you are qualified, our partner NexGen Pathways can employ and place you with a host business so the pathway does not stop at graduation.

Working together to promote women in construction

Yalagan Group is proudly female founded and female led, with 60% of our team made up of women — and that’s not by accident. It’s a commitment. We believe the construction industry should reflect the strength of our community. Equal opportunity isn’t a slogan for us — it’s action. In December, Yalagan Registered Training delivered an entry-level Yellow Card & EWP combined course, opening doors for local women to step confidently into construction and high-risk environments. More skills. More confidence. More women building the future.
