Course Overview
Description
This refresher is built for experienced workers who need to update their confined space competency. Training is practical and site-focused — covering gas detector operation, safe entry procedures under AS 2865-2009, and working in accordance with an issued work permit.
You will refresh your understanding of atmospheric hazards, PPE selection, roles and responsibilities of entrants and standby persons, and emergency procedures.
This course is ideal for workers in the Kwinana Industrial Strip, Rockingham/Henderson naval precinct, Jandakot, Bibra Lake and Midland corridors where confined space entry is a routine part of the job.
Course Content
Entry requirements (Accredited)
To make the most of your YRT Accredited course, it’s essential to have the following skills:
- Must hold prior confined space training (MSMPER205, RIIWHS202E or equivalent) — this is a refresher, not a first-time course
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must provide valid photo identification
- Must be physically capable of working in confined space environments
- Must have the ability to understand and follow safety instructions in English
- Must have appropriate work rights in Australia
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, you'll have the tools and knowledge to confidently apply these key concepts in practice:
- Operate a multi-gas detector and interpret atmospheric readings in a confined space environment.
- Apply safe entry procedures and PPE requirements in accordance with AS 2865-2009.
- Read, apply and close out a work entry permit in line with workplace and legislative requirements.
Upon successful completion, the student will receive a national Accredited qualification is recognised nationally under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) and Australian Skills Quality Authority.
