The RIISS00058 Traffic Controller Skill Set prepares you to manage and control traffic on urban streets and low volume rural roads where safety, timing and clear communication are critical.
As a traffic controller, you are responsible for protecting workers, pedestrians and motorists while maintaining smooth traffic flow around work sites.
This course builds real-world capability through a blend of structured theory and practical simulation. You will learn how to operate stop/slow bats, coordinate with site teams, communicate clearly with road users, and respond to changing traffic conditions with confidence. Strong emphasis is placed on WHS legislation, hazard identification, situational awareness and public safety obligations.

Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, you'll have the tools and knowledge to confidently apply these key concepts in practice:
- Safely control traffic using approved stop/slow bat methods on urban and low volume rural roads.
