Course Overview
Description
This nationally recognised unit equips learners with the skills and knowledge to work safely with products and materials containing crystalline silica (CS) and respirable crystalline silica (RCS). It includes identifying materials that contain silica, interpreting safety requirements, selecting and using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and respiratory protective equipment (RPE), and applying risk control measures in line with workplace and WHS procedures. Participants also learn how to clean and maintain equipment, perform safe work activities that reduce exposure, and review workplace practices to support continuous safety improvement when handling crystalline silica in construction, demolition, fabrication and other work settings.
