CPCSIL3001 - Work with products and materials containing crystalline silica
Course Overview
Description
This unit develops practical, job ready skills for working safely with materials that contain crystalline silica, which are commonly used across construction and related industries. You will learn how to identify these materials and understand when additional safety controls are required before starting work.
Training focuses on real workplace application, including how to prepare for tasks, select appropriate tools and apply dust control measures to reduce airborne exposure. You will also learn how to use personal protective equipment and respiratory protection correctly in line with workplace procedures.
A strong focus is placed on understanding the health risks associated with respirable crystalline silica and how these risks can be controlled using safe systems of work. You will build confidence in following procedures, responding to hazards and maintaining safe work practices in changing site conditions.
On completion, you will be prepared to work safely across construction, demolition, fabrication and maintenance environments where silica exposure is a known risk, supporting both compliance and safer workplace outcomes.
