Description



This course provides practical, hands on training that reflects real worksites where elevating work platforms are used daily. You will learn how to operate an EWP safely, including planning work tasks, conducting pre start checks and positioning equipment correctly before use.

You will develop strong skills in identifying hazards, assessing risks and applying safe work practices when operating at height. Training also covers the correct use of controls, stabilising equipment and ensuring safe movement of the platform during operations.

Throughout the course, you will gain confidence in carrying out operational tasks such as working in elevated positions, responding to changing site conditions and following clear communication methods on site. The focus is on building safe habits that support long term employability in construction and industry roles.

This unit supports entry into a wide range of roles across construction, maintenance, warehousing and infrastructure projects. It is a valuable skill for anyone looking to work safely at height and improve job opportunities in operational site based roles.

Note this unit provides skills and knowledge for EWP operation but does not by itself issue a high risk work licence.

Entry requirements (Accredited)

To make the most of your YRT Accredited course, it’s essential to have the following skills:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age in most industry settings for workplace use
  • Must provide valid photo identification such as a passport or Australian driver licence
  • Must have the ability to understand and follow safety instructions in English
  • Must have a Unique Student Identifier for nationally recognised training
  • No formal pre requisites are required for this unit
