Description

TLILIC0016 – Licence to operate a bridge and gantry crane
This nationally recognised unit specifies the skills and knowledge required to safely operate bridge cranes and gantry cranes in industrial and construction workplaces. It covers planning and preparing for work tasks, inspecting equipment and work areas, applying hazard controls, performing safe load handling and crane movements, using appropriate communication signals, and carrying out shutdown and post-operation procedures in accordance with workplace and WHS requirements. Bridge cranes travel along elevated runways while gantry cranes travel on supporting surfaces; both require safe operating techniques and hazard awareness. Competence in this unit supports application for a High Risk Work (HRW) Licence (CB class) with the relevant WHS authority, although completing the unit alone does not automatically issue the licence.
