CPCCLHS3001 – Licence to Operate a Personnel and Materials Hoist (ALIMAK)
This nationally recognised unit provides the skills, knowledge and practical capability required to safely operate a personnel and materials hoist (commonly known as an ALIMAK) on construction and major infrastructure sites. Designed for high-risk work environments, this course equips participants to operate builder’s hoists used to transport personnel, materials and equipment vertically across multi-storey projects.
Participants will develop a strong understanding of hoist components, including the car, mast structure, drive machinery and associated safety systems. Training covers the safe operation of cantilever hoists, tower hoists and multiple winch operations, ensuring learners can confidently manage vertical transport systems across a range of site conditions.
The course combines structured theory with hands-on practical training, focusing on WHS legislation, hazard identification, load management, communication procedures, emergency protocols and daily inspection requirements. Learners will gain real-world experience in conducting pre-start checks, safely loading and unloading personnel and materials, monitoring load limits, and responding to operational risks.
Upon successful completion, participants will be eligible to apply for the High Risk Work Licence for Personnel and Materials Hoist (Class HP), opening opportunities across commercial construction, civil projects and large-scale developments throughout Australia. This course builds not just compliance — but competence, confidence and site-ready professionalism.
