Description

CPCCLDG300: Licence to Perform Dogging

YRT delivers high-quality dogging training designed to build skilled, confident and safety-focused professionals for the construction and infrastructure industries. This nationally recognised unit equips participants with the practical skills and technical knowledge required to safely perform dogging work in high-risk environments, where precision, communication and safety are critical.

Doggers play a vital role on site. They are responsible for selecting, inspecting and maintaining lifting gear such as slings, chains and shackles, calculating load weights, applying correct slinging techniques, and directing crane operators using approved signals and communication systems. A competent dogger ensures loads are lifted, moved and placed safely, protecting people, equipment and productivity.

Our course combines structured theory with intensive hands-on practical training, ensuring participants develop real-world capability, not just assessment competence. Learners gain a strong understanding of WHS legislation, hazard identification, risk management, load assessment and safe work practices, preparing them for the demands of live construction environments.

Upon successful completion, participants will be equipped with the knowledge and confidence to apply for a National Licence to Perform High Risk Work – Class DG (Dogging), opening doors to employment across construction, mining, civil, logistics and major infrastructure projects across Australia.

Some aspects of the course include:

  • Occupational health and safety

  • Job planning – hazard identification and put in place measures for safe movement of loads

  • Mass of objects

  • Use, maintenance and inspection of terminals, fittings and accessories
