Course Overview
Description
This course provides practical, hands on training that reflects real worksite conditions where working at heights is required. You will learn how to identify height related hazards, assess risks and apply safe systems of work before starting any task.
You will develop skills in selecting and using fall protection equipment such as harnesses, lanyards and anchor points. Training also covers inspecting equipment, setting up safe work areas and following procedures that reduce the risk of falls and incidents on site.
Throughout the course, you will build confidence in planning and completing tasks at height while maintaining awareness of changing site conditions. You will also learn how to communicate effectively with team members to ensure safe coordination of work activities.
This unit supports employment across construction, maintenance, mining and industrial sectors. It is a key safety skill that improves job readiness and is often required for working on elevated structures and access equipment.
Course Content
Entry requirements (Accredited)
To make the most of your YRT Accredited course, it’s essential to have the following skills:
- Must have the ability to understand and follow safety instructions in English
- Minimum of 18 years of age
- Must have a Unique Student Identifier for nationally recognised training
- Must provide valid photo identification such as a passport or Australian driver licence
- Basic physical ability to work safely at height and use safety equipment is recommended
- Arrive in suitable attire, including long pants and closed-in shoes
- Provide their own transport and lunch.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, you'll have the tools and knowledge to confidently apply these key concepts in practice:
- Gain the confidence to safely work at height in real worksite conditions
- Learn how to identify hazards and use fall protection equipment correctly
- Build practical skills to work safely in construction, mining and industrial roles
- Identify changing site hazards and apply effective controls, emergency procedures and rescue requirements.
Upon successful completion, the student will receive a national Accredited qualification is recognised nationally under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) and Australian Skills Quality Authority.
