RII30820 - Certificate III in Civil Construction Plant Operations

Course Overview
Description
The RII30820 Certificate III in Civil Construction Plant Operations is designed for individuals ready to develop specialised skills operating civil construction machinery across road, rail, mining, subdivisions and major infrastructure projects. This qualification moves beyond entry-level labouring and focuses on building true plant operating competence.
You will gain hands-on experience operating equipment such as excavators, loaders, rollers, graders, dozers or other civil plant — depending on your selected units. The course develops your ability to conduct pre-start inspections, manage site hazards, interpret plans, work to levels and tolerances, and operate machinery safely and efficiently in live construction environments.
Strong emphasis is placed on WHS legislation, risk management, communication with ground crews, and working within traffic and site management systems. Participants build the technical judgement and situational awareness required to operate heavy equipment responsibly while maintaining productivity and safety.
Delivered through a blend of practical training and applied theory, this qualification prepares you for long-term career pathways in plant operations, civil infrastructure and resource sectors across Australia.
