Smart and Skilled is a New South Wales (NSW) government funding incentive for those trying to gain new skills needed to find a job or advance their careers.

How much do I pay on a YRT Smart and Skilled course?

Any eligible YRT Smart and Skilled students the course is subsidised to a maximum of 100%. Each government-subsidised qualification has a fixed qualification price, a government subsidy and a student fee, which is determined by the NSW Government.

Smart and Skilled student fees are for the whole qualification. Which means you’ll know, upfront, the total cost of the training. To make it even more flexible, we have also made payment plans available for all students. The exact fee a student pays will largely depend on their eligibility. To find out course costs please complete the form on the Smart & Skilled website here or call 1300 798 012 and speak to one of our Education Consultants.

A focus on industry and government priorities

The funded course list focuses on current and future workforce industry skills. Previously, any course that was nationally accredited was available for subsidised training under the Victorian Training Guarantee.

Courses included on the funded course list will: better align with industry needs and workforce demands, have a strong jobs outcome, such as apprenticeships, meet other social needs, such as foundation skill courses.

The funded courses list is regularly reviewed, and courses added as required by industry needs.

The Construction industry is the largest industry in WA employing tens of thousands of skilled workers in over 130 different occupations across civil, commercial and residential sectors. The Construction Training Fund (CTF) is 100% industry funded through the collection of the BCITF levy which applies to all construction projects in WA.

The WA Government has identified priority industry qualifications to provide its residents with the skills they need to get jobs in high demand occupations across Western Australia.
